Appointment Preparation

1.) SKINCARE ROUTINE

A good skincare routine is essential to achieving a flawless, even and long-lasting makeup application. If you do not already have a good routine in place, now is the time to start!

Exfoliate face and use a lip scrub - 1-2x per week.

Cleanse, tone and moisturize - 2x daily.

Apply a lip treatment each night before bed and use lip balm before going outside in cold or windy conditions to prevent chapped lips.

La Roche-Posay, Cetaphil and CeraVe are some dermatologist recommended skincare brands that are available to treat a wide variety of skin types. Please note that moisturizer containing sunscreen is generally recommended on a daily basis but can actually cause separation of liquid foundation. I recommend using an SPF free moisturizer prior to makeup application for the best result.

2.) Epilation

You may want to consider waxing, threading or dermaplaning to remove unwanted facial hair a few days prior to your makeup application. Hair removal provides the smoothest surface and makes a considerable difference in the way makeup looks on the skin.

Dermaplaning - A minimally invasive procedure that shaves the top layer of your skin, removing dull skin and peach fuzz.

Facial threading/waxing - Simple and quick salon/spa procedures used to shape eyebrows and remove unwanted hair from lip and chin area.

3.) DAY OF MAKEUP PREPARATION

The day of your makeup trial and/or general makeup services you will want to arrive to your appointment with clean, makeup free and moisturized skin. I suggest that you wear something button down or with a low neckline that shows your skin/body tone. I match face to body and it helps to see neckline/shoulders clearly.

  • bridal trial clients - you may want to consider wearing a top with a similar neckline/color as your wedding gown if possible.

Your skin will be primed on arrival and I will provide all cosmetic and beauty products necessary to create your look.

Please allow 1 - 2hrs for your makeup application appointment. I normally like to devote a portion of this time to discuss details and to take before & after photos.

Bring inspiration photos and/or make notes of the makeup look you desire. We will discuss your typical makeup comfort zone, favorite facial feature(s) or if there is anything you feel self conscious about.

It is very important to let me know ahead of your appointment if you have any allergies or if you’ve had any adverse reactions to cosmetics in the past.

Tips -

  • I will provide product shade information for lip products used at your trial so that you may purchase your own for re-application on your wedding day. I will provide a lip applicator with enough product to reapply 1x so this is not required but certainly something to consider.

  • If you want to get an idea of your full wedding day look, try to coordinate your appointment for hair the same day as makeup.
